Locust Grove was built (1790 ca.) by Major William Croghan, a Revolutionary War soldier, land surveyor, Louisville businessperson and civic leader, and his wife Lucy Clark Croghan. It became the last home of Lucy Croghan's brother, General George Rogers Clark in 1809, when he moved to Locust Grove after the amputation of his right leg. He died there in 1818.
